Watch what you say...

UPDATE: I was just watching GameDay -- here is the sign of the week as far as I am concerned: Charlie Weiss - Love Child of Rosie O'Donnell and Jabba the Hut?

Before I get to that, I need to say this: I think ESPN needs to make another new station and call it ESPN ND. All Notre Dame, all the time. We can watch Charlie Weiss walk his large derriere around the ND facility and try to motivate his player. We can watch Brady Quinn and his sister. We can watch Samardzija play baseball and football. It would just be an awesome channel...the only commentator would be Lou Holtz. I can see it now...

How about this Muslim outrage at the Pope? He apparently offended the Islam religion by calling it "inhuman." I can't necessarily defend that...it's not a very nice thing to say. Should it cause riots? No. Obviously not. It is completely insane and I just don't understand these people...

I think I may have said this before but, if I didn't, here goes: What would happen if Christians around the world rioted every time someone insulted Christians? The world would be over. There's hardly a day that goes by in this country that someone isn't attacking Christianity. Rosie "Insert mean nickname here, there's too many to choose from" O'Donnell attacked Christianity on the View just the other day. No one cares about who was offended by her lard butt. Senators and Congressmen attack religion on a regular basis on the floor...hardly a word is said. There is a constant assault on religion in this country and there aren't riots...it's life.

But, oh dear, if someone draws a cartoon of Mohommed, we have to riot. If someone says a "Allah Akbar" the wrong way, we have to burn things in the street. This isn't a big WVU win...there's no reason to burn stuff. This is why there will never be an understanding between our world (Western) and their world (fanatical). And to simply attempt to appease them by saying, "Now, be nice to them...don't make fun or say anything insulting" is not a solution. No one likes to be insulted but when you act in a manner as they have, it's going to happen.

It's a crazy situation. I have no solutions...I don't even have any suggestions. It will be interesting to see how the Pope responds. He obviously knows he's under some heat but he'll want to show a strong leadership. Are we heading back down the path of the Crusades? I think we're getting closer everyday...
