WVU/UConn

Wednesday Night. ESPN...2. National Television. UConn. Big for West Virginia. Bigger for the Big East.

The Big East is suffering...I'll admit it. I'm a stauch defender of the Big East and of its BCS bid but, even with blinders on, you can see the lack of respect for the Big East in the national sports media...and it is somewhat rightfully earned. Like I said the other day, if you saw the Cincy/Syracuse game, you understand why everyone is so critical of the Big East. The games are sloppy and the teams are bad. Granted, Louisville is good but they can't play on the road. West Virginia is good but not great...at least they haven't shown greatness yet.

This is big for the Big East. Both WVU and UConn need to show that they can play football. West Virginia needs to pull away in the second half to show that they are the leaders of the Big East. The game can't be marred by 7 turnovers or something like that...that won't advance the premise that the Big East can play football. It needs to be a well executed game...with flashes of brilliance on offense and defense. This might be one of the few remaining times this year that the Big East and WVU can gain respect. Will an 18-game layoff make them rusty? Hopefully not...but we'll see. I have WVU winning by 2 touchdowns.

Should be a game worth going to...nice weather and a rocking Wednesday night. Hope to see you there...
