Oscars

I can honestly say I did not watch a moment of the Academy Awards. No pre-show, no post-show and definitely no actual show. It has to be one of the most pretentious displays ever created. Hollywood spends hours upon hours congratulating itself for making movies. I would rather avoid the entire event...and I did. I watched "Patton" -- which won an Oscar but was actually a good movie.

As bad as the show is, what becomes worse is all the shows about the show. Red carpet shows, best/worst dress shows, behind the scenes shows, post-show shows...just end it all. It is a zoo and I really, really don't understand how people can watch it. And, judging from the reactions today, people are wishing they hadn't.
