Teacher Walkout; WVU Basketball

Well, let me start out by saying I think the teachers in the counties that walked out today are dumb. Here's why:

1) Five counties walking out doesn't show much unity. I've already said it doesn't appear the two unions can get on the same page and this just shows there's not much unity among the teachers throughout the state;

2) Parents don't like this walkout thing. Now those five counties have to find something to do with their kids. This isn't a good way to raise public support by having all this uncertainty;

3) Preston has missed a lot of school this year. I can't say how much...but I know they are beyond their snow days already. This doesn't show much care for students actually learning; and

4) The legislature has already been dismissed and the 3.5% raise is going to be signed. What good does a walkout do after the legislature has left Charleston? Doesn't make much sense.

Anyway, West Virginia easily defeated Delware State last night and will play UMass Thursday night. The Mountaineers didn't have much problem dismantling the Hornets. The win gave John Beilein his 100th as the Mountaineer head coach. Hopefully he will make it 100 more. (So, when do the Beilein to ??? rumors begin this year?)

Congratulations to the Mountaineer women who made the NCAA tournament this year. Hard to believe but this is only their 2nd appearance in the NCAA tournament in the last 15 years. Wow.
Lastly, if you haven't seen this commercial on TV yet...well, I'm not a big fan. I just don't get it...why did they give the referee lottery tickets? Why is the ref there? And if there was a ref there, why wasn't it Jim Burr? If Jim Burr were in the commercial, I would forgive the stupidity.
