Concerns Linger

WVU took care of business against Syracuse but I don't feel real great about it. 41-17 is an awesome win...24 points is a smackdown. But the defense didn't quash my fears, especially in the secondary. Patterson had receivers running free but there wasn't the talent to hit them or for them to catch the ball. Someone is going to really exploit the secondary weakness.

In case you missed GameDay this morning, Lee Corso went off on the WVU defense. He said WVU was not a Top 5 team. He said we have a Top 5 offense but the defense isn't even top 50. I've never seen him make sure pointed comments on GameDay. He really called out the defense...I'm sure those comments will be played over and over this week at WVU practices.

But, regardless, WVU is now 6-0, 1-0 in conference play, and improving. Pat White finally showed his explosiveness which makes me very happy. 247 yards and 4 touchdowns is a pretty awesome day. Slaton and Schmidtt are looking awesome. Colson needs to be cut. McAfee made my day with his tackle...awesome. Hopefully WVU keeps rolling until the November 2nd showdown at Louisville and the Big East game of the year.

In other news...Vanderbilt beat Georgia at UG. And Indiana beat Iowa. I like both of those. Rutgers looks like they will remain undefeated. And USF destroyed UNC. All good things. East Fairmont has secured its first winning season since 1990. Also a good thing.

And, that's about it for right now. More big games coming up later. A good evening of football ahead...
